“EACH ONE, TEACH ONE”
S.A.I.N.T. was formed by Geoff Johnson in 1998 alongside Francois Pienaar and the late Clive Rice, respectively South Africa’s former rugby and cricket captains, as well as Sports Lawyer Ian Smith. The initial objective was to raise funds for development rugby and cricket in the townships of South Africa. We then moved to supporting children affected by AIDS supporting various charities and today we concentrate on improving the lives of under-privileged children through education, housing, health, sporting facilities and the disabled.
In 1962 Nelson Mandela received a life sentence and sent to Robben Island where the political prisoners grew to over 3,000. Mandela encouraged each prisoner with any knowledge to teach another prisoner using the slogan “Each one, Teach one”. He wanted each prisoner to gain as much knowledge as possible and after his release stated “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the World.”
S.A.I.N.T. now use “Each one, Teach one” as their mantra to achieve their vision to see every child in South Africa live a life with dignity, experiencing a warm, safe and loving place to call home, with access to good quality nutrition, medical care and holistic education.
